Overview of Position

The Investment Analyst Intern performs basic level stock analysis utilizing tools and methods as taught within the Argent framework. The primary role will be supporting Portfolio Managers and Investment Analysts in their daily routines. The Intern’s main focus is on information gathering and creation of reports. The ability to work independently is vital to success. Equally important is the ability to work with and communicate with others in a team environment. Having a goal of becoming an Investment Analyst is a plus.

Primary Goals and Supporting Responsibilities

Participate in stock, sector, and industry analyses by gathering information for new ideas for portfolios. This involves compiling information for various research templates by way of:
  • Listening to company calls and investment presentations
  • Reading investment transcripts
  • Collecting questionnaires & analyzing historical trends
  • Studying charts and report updates from Bloomberg and FactSet
  • Reviewing monthly attribution charts
  • Analyzing earnings calendars
  • Gathering data point contact information
Actively run reports as assigned by Portfolio Managers and Investment Analysts. Record company conference call notes for Investment Analysts to utilize in plus/minus update. Complete other tasks as assigned by Portfolio Managers and Investment Analysts.

Preferred Qualifications

Educational Background
  • Currently enrolled in Sophomore or Junior year pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • It is expected that the candidate will possess a basic understanding of investment concepts and terminology, financial markets, and stocks.
Technical Skills
  • Basic knowledge of investment related software including Bloomberg and FactSet is a plus, but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel (experience with Macros and VBA is a plus, but not required).
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, communication skills, attention to detail, ability to focus, and problem solving skills.
